As part of the Psychological Professions National Conference week this session will celebrate the impact of this growth as well as highlight some of the key challenges that such rapid expansion presents, including implementation of new roles, supervision, and leadership. We hear about innovations in the South West that are aiming to address these challenges and about the implications for the future work of Psychological Professions.

This session focusses on what the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan means for the psychological professions, for psychological healthcare, and for the public. It explores how we can continue to achieve the ambitions of the NHS Long Term Plan to deliver a 60% growth in the psychological professions’ workforce between March 2020 and April 2024, and further build on this as we grow and transform for the benefit of service users, families and carers. By working together, we can seize the opportunity of the NHS Long Term Workforce Plan to grow the psychological professions by a further 24,000-26,000 posts by 2037, and to do so safely, effectively and in an integrated way.
