Workforce Intelligence Report

Work is underway between PPN-SW and Health Education England in conducting an initial scoping of the Psychological Professions workforce across the region. We aim to map the current workforce, vacancy rates, expected recruitment needs and involvement in strategic forums at local and regional level. This will be reported to Health Education England and Psycholoigcal Professions Network England, and disseminated to Local Workforce Action Boards within the South West.

The report will seek to provide intelligence in terms of the number of Psychological Professionals working in NHS funded services in the South West, to specify how many Psychological Professionals would be required in the South West, in meeting the ambitions for expansion set out in the NHS Long Term Plan. The report will identify ways we can improve workforce intelligence moving forward, and begin to map our positioning in terms of influence on strategic planning across the NHS in the region. Beyond this, the report include the identification of training courses for Psychological Professions in the South West, how many people qualify from them each year, and how these are funded. Mapping the representation of the Psychological Professions in key workforce forums at Trust, STP/ICS, and Regional levels in the South West.
