Promoting Excellence In Psychological Health & Wellbeing

The Clinical Associate in Psychology Community of Practice (CAPs CoP) is a forum to bring together trainee and qualified CAPs, their colleagues, and training providers across the South West.

It aims to discuss broad CAP themes and issues related to the profession, the national remit and apprenticeship issues. Examples of projects and themes include CAP development and retention in Trusts, CAP accreditation, promoting CAP roles and sharing CAP learning between Trusts. It can be helpful for Trust CAP leads or supervisors to attend to share thinking and resources and consider how these related to their local CAP issues and it supports development of role and CAP identity in each locality and Trust. It is good to have representation from qualified CAPs and CAP apprentices for each Trust who can bring their experience to the discussion and help shape thinking and knowledge base.

The CAPs CoP is currently facilitated by Dr Pete Keohane, Clinical Psychologist, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology & CAP Programme Director at the University of Plymouth, and Dr Nicola Clisby, Clinical Psychologist and CAP lead for Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire at Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust.
