Working in healthcare is stressful and can lead to psychological and moral distress. Covid-19 has highlighted how important it is to ensure the wellbeing of healthcare staff. A poll by the charity Healthcare Workers’ Foundation found that 73% of NHS staff considered leaving in 2020/2021. 31% of clinical staff confirmed they are likely to leave within the next 12 months. 50% of staff would not recommend the NHS for others to join!

From DoLS to Liberty Protection Safeguards: Managing the Interim

Facilitated by Ben Troke Court of Protection Specialist Solicitor, this half day masterclass, will look in detail at all aspects of the law on deprivation of liberty as it stands, and how to follow the current legal framework in residential care, in the community and in hospital settings, as well as reviewing the law for children.  
With the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards due to be replaced entirely by the Liberty Protection Safeguards we will also cover the plans for reform.  We will look at the LPS proposals, the questions for the code of practice, and how each organisation can prepare now for their changing responsibilities.
This course will be useful for all those working in health or social care, in any setting, and whether with adults or children, as we prepare for fundamental reform to meet the rights of the individual, and the challenge to do this in a way that is cost effective and efficient.

Improving the Assessment and Management of People Experiencing Mental Health Crisis in Emergency Care

This conference focuses on improving the emergency response to people experiencing mental health crisis who arrive in A&E services. Ideally people experiencing mental health crisis will be supported by mental health crisis service and therefore not have to attend A&E. CAMHS National Summit 2022: Transforming Mental Health Services for Children & Young Adults

Perinatal Mental Health Services: Improving access and support

This conference focuses on improving perinatal mental health services during and beyond Covid-19. By attending this one day conference, you will hear talks from expert speakers at local and national level. The chair for the day will be Elaine Coote, a Survivor of Postnatal Depression and Author of Eyes without Sparkle and Another Twinkle in the Eye– ‘contemplating another pregnancy after perinatal mental illness’.

The conference will open focusing on the lived experience, and then learning from the rMBRRACE-UK rapid care report focusing on recommendations for improvement. You will benefit from extended sessions focusing prevention and positive mental health, developing a model of service delivery in which mental and physical health care are integrated into the work of maternity and health visiting services, identifying and supporting women in mental health crisis, improving the quality of mental healthcare for new mothers, supporting men whose wives or partners are experiencing PND, learning from mother and baby units and maternal mental health pilot sites, supporting mothers at higher risk due to birth trauma or previous mental health issues, and supporting women with existing mental health concerns with a case study on Eating Disorders.

Moving from Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards to Liberty Protection Safeguards

The draft Code of Practice and draft regulations that support the Liberty Protection Safeguards have now been published. This conference will update delegates on the implementation of the Liberty Protection Safeguards in your service with particular focus on the Draft Code of Practice which was published in March 2022.

• Network with colleagues who are working to move from DoLS to Liberty Protection Safeguards
• Reflect on national developments and understand the principles of the 2022 LPS Code of Practice
