Rehearsed Reading of 'Fantastic' - exploring the pressure placed on us by society to fit in and be 'normal'

Aisling could have been an astronaut, or President, or both, but instead she's facing a procedure that will 'fix' her for good. Her brother Joseph is coming to visit for the first (and hopefully last) time, but Aisling has other ideas. Fantastic explores the pressure placed on us by society to fit in and be 'normal'... but what is normal anyway?

Join writer Peter Carruthers and the cast for a rehearsed reading of Fantastic, directed by JMK award winning director Liz Stevenson. The reading will be followed by a post-show discussion where you can share your thoughts on the play, discuss the themes and influence its development, as well as gain an insight into the creative process.

Peter Carruthers is a writer, actor and director who is passionate about challenging the stigma and disadvantages surrounding mental health. His award winning short films have been used in the UK, USA, Canada and Uganda to raise awareness, understanding and empathy for people suffering with mental health issues.

Peter is one half of the writing duo behind Black Toffee’s hit comedy-drama Hidden, which was produced in association with Harrogate Theatre. Hidden was described by The Guardian as “A true gem”, and enjoyed a sell-out run at Edinburgh Fringe in 2013 followed by a hugely successful national tour in 2014.

Please feel free to forward this invitation onto anyone else you think might be interested in attending.
