The HEE Mandate 2015/16 identifies key objectives around supporting NHS England in both developing liaison psychiatry services in an acute setting and improving access to psychological therapies. Health Education North West, as part of the Urgent & Emergency care workforce programme, are looking at developing key work streams that address these objectives with a particular focus on urgent and emergency care.
To support the development of these work streams, Health Education North West would like to call upon the knowledge and expertise of the Psychological Professions Network to develop an understanding of best practice in how psychological professions support urgent and emergency care. Following on from the receipt of these examples, we would like to set up a workshop to further explore opportunities to develop psychiatric and psychological workforce to support urgent and emergency care and to potential develop some pilot work to test out and evaluate best practice in the North West.
