Appointment of National Clinical Lead for Psychological Professions at NHS England and Health Education England

The North West Psychological Professions Network are delighted to share the news that Dr Adrian Whittington has been appointed as National Clinical Lead for Psychological Professions at NHS England and Health Education England, following a competitive recruitment process. Adrian has taken up the role from 1^st October 2022

Luisa Stewart, Director of Policy, Mental Health and Learning Disabilities and Autism, NHS England and Debi Reilly, National Director of Education Programmes, Health Education England announced: “We are very pleased that we have been able to develop and deploy this new post, building on discussions with internal and external stakeholders, and interim developments with the psychological professions’ workforce agenda over the past four years. This post will amplify further our efforts to grow and develop the psychological professions across care pathways, aligned to policy, evidence, and the needs of service users, carers and families. The joint development of the post and the team linked to it will help us ensure joined up leadership of the psychological professions across NHS England and Health Education England as we move towards our wider integration”.

We look forward to continuing to work together with Adrian to progress plans for the psychological professions to maximise their impact for the public.
