Promoting Psychological Practice in Physical Healthcare
The Psychological Professions Network (PPN), Kent, Surrey and Sussex is looking for a highly motivated psychological professional with a specialist expertise and passion in promoting and integrating talking therapies and psychologically informed practice in physical health care. This is to improve recovery and optimise people’s coping and functioning, as well as enhancing multidisciplinary working.
We are working towards service user and carer involvement in all of our work, and require a high level of commitment to consult and involve service users and carers at all stages of the project.
In the first instance, we are looking to commission a published scoping paper and report with a set of recommendations by 30th June 2019. This would be for the public as well as a professional and policy maker audience to promote the good value of the psychological professions in physical health care. The scoping paper and report would also be reported to and steered by the national new roles in the psychological professions group at Health Education England (HEE).
Here, we are looking for i) evidence and good practice examples of psychological professionals working in physical healthcare settings (primary care, acute, specialist) and to link with other physical health work streams, for example at HEE (such as cancer care); ii) a summary for an economic case for psychological interventions and evidence informed practice in physical healthcare, and good practice examples; and, iii) recommendations on how to enhance psychological professionals' skills in physical health integration; iv) recommendations may also include potential training needs for psychological skills in particular professional groups delivering frontline physical health care, and a project evaluation plan.
We are interested in hearing from a suitably qualified individual, and expect the candidate to work collaboratively with experts in the region. We anticipate that this piece of work could be completed in up to ten days of work. We would have a small amount of backfill money available to cover the cost.
