What Makes a Good Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) Application?

17 Dec 21

In collaboration with NIHR, we are hosting an online webinar looking at what makes a strong PCAF application and how you can develop a competitive PCAF application of your own.

The
HEE/NIHR Integrated Clinical Academic (ICA) Pre-doctoral Clinical Academic Fellowship (PCAF) is a programme that supports health and social care practitioners (excluding doctors and dentists) to develop a competitive application for a doctoral fellowship.

It is a funded programme that offers bespoke training and development and allows for time buy-out from clinical roles to undertake the programme.  The PCAF is for those researchers who wish to pursue a career as a clinical academic.

This webinar is on the 14th January 2022, 9.30am - 3.30pmon MS Teams.  We have developed a webinar that will provide practical advice and support with a view to helping you to develop a PCAF application prior to the application window opening at the end of January 2022.

The webinar will be hosted by NHS R&D North West and there will be inputs from Dr Beth Harris, PCAF Scheme Manager, Prof Paul May, Director NIHR ICA Training Board and current, and or, previous PCAF and PCAF Bridge award holders.  Beth will introduce the PCAF scheme and set this into the context of NIHR and ICA Pathway.  Paul will be looking at what makes a good application, what NIHR is looking for in applications along with some top tips.  The current, and or, previous award holders will give applicants an idea of what to expect from the scheme, how they managed the application process and their own personal journeys.
