Preventing Self-Harm in Individuals with Borderline Personality Disorder Symptomatology

The aim of this talk is to give practitioners a framework for working with clients engaging in repeated self-harm, and present an overview of interventions clients have found helpful when trying to engage in alternative behaviours.

This half day workshop will provide an introduction to creative therapies and look at how you might introduce these approaches in your practise. It will include a number of interactive activities, case studies and discussions to experience and explore a number of creative techniques, alongside looking at the possible benefits and appropriateness of using creativity within therapy. It will look at ways to enhance and compliment your current approach and perhaps help you identify new ways of working with clients when ‘just words’ are not always enough.

Social Entrepreneurship for Counselling ProfessionalsCV portrait

This participatory workshop introduces trainee and qualified counselling professionals to fundamental elements of building a successful counselling service within the growing social enterprise sector. We will look at personal and professional qualities of the “entrepreneur-practitioner.” Areas of operational knowledge required to promote service sustainability in our era of mental health contract outsourcing will be briefly described, such as human resources and client records management. This workshop is suitable for therapists with no prior business experience, who may be thinking of expanding their work beyond private practice or corporate employment.
