HEE pilot announcement: Thousands of professionals working with children and young people to be trained in mental health

Today Health Education England is pleased to announce a new pilot training programme in partnership with Anna Freud National Centre for Children and Families, the Charlie Waller Trust and National Children’s Bureau.  

 

The purpose of the children’s workforce mental health training programme is to equip the multi-professional children’s workforce, for example those working in education, early years and childcare, health, library services, sports clubs, justice and crime prevention, youth and social, family and community services with the understanding, knowledge and skills to support early identification of mental ill health. 

 

This training will be co-designed with children and young people, parents and carers and staff members before undergoing a six-month evaluated pilot in Southampton, Portsmouth and Norfolk.  

 

This training programme is aligned with the NHS Long Term Plan and its focus on supporting Integrated Care Systems (ICS) plans to support a whole system preventative approach.
